Always be Home to me...

I started having a regular yoga practice back in 2000.  I have studied many different styles of yoga, in many different yoga studios, with many different yoga teachers.  In 2006, I made the decision to become a yoga instructor myself, and I started looking around at the teacher trainings offered at the yoga studios in the area. When I failed to find a program that really resonated with me, a dear friend suggested that I give the Stone Center, and Charlotte, a try.

From the very first class that I ever took at Stone Yoga with Charlotte, I knew that I had found home. Charlotte was warm and welcoming, the space that she had created at the studio felt safe and inviting, and the class that she taught was hands down one of the best yoga classes I had ever taken. Charlotte’s working knowledge of the body and anatomy and physiology is unparalleled. And her classes are taught in a way that make you feel challenged, yet supported and stable. I have been injured in the past by some very well-meaning yoga teachers who didn’t provide me with the proper support and instruction. Charlotte’s focus on alignment, and her innate gift to modify and adapt a pose to the student, were a breath of fresh air!  I have two herniated discs in my low back, and Charlotte taught me how to support and strengthen my lower back, protecting it from compression. I have not had a problem since!

But, most of all … Charlotte’s humble and compassionate nature has won a very special place in my heart.  A really good teacher not only guides you through a safe and effective yoga practice, but they also guide you through your inner work.  For me, yoga is about being physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually sound and healthy.  Charlotte and Stone Yoga have always provided me with a safe container for that total yoga experience. I graduated from Charlotte’s teacher training program in 2007, and I have been teaching ever since. I continue to study with Charlotte regularly. Her classes are always fresh, and I always learn something new from her. Lacking the pretension that I sometimes find at other yoga studios, Charlotte always checks her ego at the door and becomes a conduit for spirit, giving her students exactly what they need. Charlotte and Stone Yoga will always be home to me.
